WELCOME TO THE GREEK SCIENTISTS SOCIETY
|
|
Hello,
I trust you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s Eve with your loved ones, full of joy and health.
The time of the year has come again when, apart the festivities, we take one last look back of the past year and make plans for the new year.
Thanks to you, 2021 was for our initiative, the Greek Scientists Society a breakthrough year that laid the foundations for our next steps. During the year, exactly in 13 months, we managed to join in our LinkedIn group more than 17 000 Greek and Cypriot Scientists & Technologists, Academics, Researchers, Industry People and the general Public, reaching close to our initial goal of 20,000 members,

while we were happy:

|
- we developed a Task Force Group on "How to advance Cyprus as a destination for Clinical Studies"
|
- we also tried to create an Innovation Platform and a Community Platform which we do not continue to support for operational and other reasons. However, the above needs will be met through the operation of the portal that we are preparing.
|
All of the above were intended to highlight what our Community is able to deliver and the goal is this new year to have all these activities with the help of our members / volunteers on a permanent basis.
|
In my initial newspost I stated the actions and programs in which the Greek Scientists Society will seek to participate in the foreseen future and in the long-run.
Our vision is to create a Knowledge Community - in the context of a virtual Community of Practice -that will support an Innovation Ecosystem 5.0 governed by the principles of a distinct Greek Scientific Paradigm.

Today we enter the Phase II of our plan, with the most significant actions
A. The development of our portal – a fully CRM platform enabled with modules on Human Capital Management, Project Management and Support Desk backed by easy automations of the ERP operations
This time we go far beyond the simple Community Platform.
In addition to our LinkedIn members’ information - studies, skills, career, etc. – we will store in the profile an enriched range of personal information - patents, publications, awards, etc. but also their interests for future activities (e.g., interest in getting involved in start-ups) and scientific knowledge (e.g., interest in workshops) and at the same time how he wants to help our Community (e.g., as a Mentor).
In this way we will make possible the listing of the Greek Scientific Property (του Περιουσιολογίου του Επιστημονικού Δυναμικού) around the world but also to seek synergies matching members and service providers (e.g., IP Lawyers, Business Angels, IT experts, etc.) and setting the ground layers so in the next phase the Community to become AI-enabled.
Moreover, a personalized approach and communication with our members will also be possible.
First, we will immediately invite the members of the Society of Greek Scientists to connect to our portal, to select a series of Networks
- per vertical (Hellenic Biomed Network, Hellenic InfoTech Network, Hellenic Engineering Network) more to come in the future
|
- by thematic action (Hellenic StartUp Network & Hellenic Inventors Network) more to come in the future
|
According to our Architecture, at the centre of our plan are Scientists / Researchers / Technologists / Young Entrepreneurs, while Academics, Service Providers and Industry Experts play a significant role, as well as the Institutes both locally and internationally.
|
Our goal is to create dynamic Scientific and Young Entrepreneurs Communities creating our own Innovation Ecosystem that will collaborate with other Greek but also non-Greek networks that share the same principles as ours.
Nevertheless, we wish to involve our members in content development, individually or in groups (for example, alumni of a University or the development of thematic subgroups) giving them the opportunity to use or create content, to make their own events and share with others members webinars, podcasts, etc. - and all this at no cost (there may be exceptions) -, create their own audiences / groups if they wish in the new Portal, and much more.
Our desire is to strengthen the Community with our humble assets and to this end they are available to our members free of charge:
|
- The Airmeet platform for events, webinars, meetups
|
- Free AI-powered tools for video to text, audio to text, voiceovers, video and audio production, design editor for newsletters, etc.
|
- Our Job Board for job search (free for both Companies and Employees) and at a low cost our Interviewing Platform

B. A pilot online Scientific Community
The structure of this Scientific Community will comprise of Academics, Researchers and Market People who will guide and support the micro-community. All steps, from the design phase to the implementation of the development of this network will be fully recorded and documented, with the end product the delivery of a micro-ecosystem through which productive business schemes will spring up. This process will be standardised and we will migrate the pilot model (2023) to other use cases and areas.
The whole effort will be made in the light of the establishing a Scientific Amphictyony - Ms. Anna Diamantopoulou proposal in our first Symposium – by associations of members of various Scientific Communities cooperating with each other, while in their full extent their Leaders will meet regularly and decide on a series of the next steps for our entire Scientific Community.
We propose the development of MentVisor - at the beginning the older members will act as Mentors to the new Scientists / Researchers / Technologists / Young Entrepreneurs with the prospect when their venture takes shape to participate as Advisors / Non-Executive Directors, etc. - for a fee, with equity share, etc.
A small share of their financing in each investment round will go to the micro-Community and a part of it to the Scientific Amphictyony enabling self-financing of the whole project. Another source can be Sponsorships and Donations, in the future when the project is crowned with success, by various Funding schemes.
The micro-pilot community will be selected based on
- scientific field
- the use-case
- but also of the geographical area, e.g., Greek & Cypriot Community of Life Sciences of Australia in the field of Synthetic Biology.
|
Finally, I would like to say that all these are done without any financial charge for our members, and will continue to be so, with the sole exception of our Sponsors - I would like to take this opportunity to thank again DEMO Pharmaceuticals, IQVIA Hellas and BioIatriki for their kind support.
I wish you and your families a wonderful and productive 2022 full of Health, Joy and Happiness!
